The Florida Department of Education’s B.E.S.T. Mathematics Higher Education Teacher Prep Professional Learning Event will provide professional development for professors in teacher education programs for elementary and middle grades math.
Participants of this event can expect to
1) increase their knowledge of the B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics
2) explore concepts and skills that cross strands and grade levels
3) utilize instructional and supplemental materials to support future teachers with planning for learning and teaching the B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics for ALL students
Participants will receive resources that they can take back to their schools to implement and share what they have learned with their students and colleagues.
Participants should have a base understanding of the B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics prior to attending this event. Resources can be found at https://www.fldoe.org/academics/standards/subject-areas/math-science/mathematics/.
Registration Fee: $0
Registration Schedule: Priority registration for Initial Teacher Prep Program institutions (ITPs) will open on March 6, 2023, until March 24, 2023. Any unclaimed spots will be offered to other interested parties.
Registration Policy: A work email address must be used when registering. A waiting list will not be made for these events. Replacement attendees and location changes will not be accepted. Once the event is at capacity, participants wanting to attend will need to continue to check for availability as cancellations are processed. If duplicate registrations are made, the one most recently made will be kept active and the other(s) will be cancelled.
Hotel: The Florida Department of Education will cover the cost of one night of stay (April 12, 2023) for participants that live more than 50 miles away from the venue. Please be sure to indicate which night you would prefer within your registration. You will be responsible for payment if you choose to stay for any additional nights.
*No other stipends or supplements will be provided for the event.
